Volatility Index is CBOE Volatility Index, ticker symbol ^VIX, is a measure of the stock market’s expectation of volatility on S&P 500 index. ^VIX is calculated and published by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). It is also referred to as the fear index.
