Stock Price Does Not Reflect Business and Value

In a statement released by DBS sometime in February 2016, DBS spokesman pointed out that market capitalisation is drive by stock price fluctuations, but DBS continue to remain the region’s top bank by assets and profits. Therefore, market capitalisation is driven by stock price fluctuations that do not always reflect our underlying DBS business.

Charles Dow around 1900 summarized the price action:

  • The price action is the what than the why, ie news, earnings, and so on.
  • All known information is reflected in the price action.
  • Buyers and sellers move markets based on expectations and emotions that includes fear and greed.
  • The actual price may not reflect the underlying value of the stock.

Trade What You See – Buy or Sell

See divergence, price action changing direction. But, slow MA is still pointing down, trade what you see and not what you think.
